I mean, we really tried to stretch and use the textures of hip-hop, use the textures of graffiti, street art, even the cutting patterns that youвЂ™d see in, like, a music video. HeвЂ™s also the co-director of Pixar Animation StudiosвЂ™ current Oscar nominated feature вЂњSoul,вЂќ making Powers the first Black filmmaker to reach director or co-director status at Pixar. Powers is currently nominated for the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for the civil rights drama вЂњOne Night in Miami,вЂќ which Powers adapted from his play by the same name.
